Hi There! Spencer here.

I’m guessing you’ve made it here because you’ve started the same journey on guitar I started nearly 20 years ago. Or… maybe you just saw a goofy video of me on the internet paying tribute to my favorite people, sound engineers! (I kid, love you all <3)

If there’s one thing I’ve learned over my years it’s that ONE, it’s a CONSTANT journey getting better at your instrument — and TWO, there’s no such thing as TOO young or TOO old to start.

I hope the resources provided here will help you on your musical journey; whether you’re looking for a fresh start, adjusting your technique, or need to find that spark of creativity again to encourage you to KEEP learning.

This isn’t a sprint — hell, it’s not even a 5k. Getting good at your instrument is a lifestyle, and you make that lifestyle one day at a time — so buckle up! It’s a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll.

A Little About Me

I’ve been performing live music and teaching guitar for over 15 years, most of those years serving as a Program Director at an accredited boutique music school. I’ve taught beginner to advanced students and everything in between.

Some may say I joke around too much, others call it being sarcastic to the point of cruelty — but hey LOOK, if we can’t make learning guitar fun and easy with a little light-hearted comedy on the way I don’t know how else we’re gonna get through it. It IS a long way to the top and we gotta stop and laugh along the way.

A Little More About Me

But hey! I’m not just some guitar-nerd yelling from his garage about proper technique *blah blah blah*, I actually perform for a living! If you’re on Instagram chances are you’ve already seen me playing with a few different projects and yes, I STILL play in a cover band. (Don’t judge, it pays the bills!)

I’ve been fortunate to perform with many amazing musicians including:

Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Zella Day

Legendary Iranian singer Ebi Hammedi

Former members of Train in American Salvage

and of course if you’ve ever happen to be in Costa Mesa on a Friday night at the Wayfarer you’ve seen my cover band Sega Genecide.

You’re Still Reading?

Wow, uh, I really feel like we’re getting to know each other. Well — you’re just getting to know me. I never get to talk about myself this much this is pretty cool… ANYWAY!

If you have any questions PLEASE ASK I’m an OPEN BOOK and am HERE TO HELP. Over the course of this website I will be sharing all my resources and experience on all things Guitar, Gear, Songwriting, Live performance, Recording — you name it.

We’re all learning and are on this journey together. Let loose with the questions. If it’s a big topic I’ll make a video about it :)
